Martial
Arts Summer Camp is open to children from ages 6 to 12.
No previous martial arts experience is neccesary.
We provide individual attention and instruction in a group
structure for the students.
The
purpose of the camp is to educate students on the arts
of HapKiDo, TaeKwonDo, AiKiDo, martial arts and the cultures
from which they came, in an active and fun environment.
HapKiDo and AiKiDo (coordinated or universal energy way)
training includes learning to roll and fall safely, and
to work with a partner. Weapons work is also practiced
(wooden sword and staff). TaeKwonDo (foot hand way) training
includes kicks and hand techniques, patterns and non contact
sparring. The suffix Do means way
or more clearly, the way to enlightenment, self
realization and understanding. Do implies
that a martial art has been transformed from a practical
means of combat to an educational form with emphasis on
perfection of human character.
Martial arts workouts, including stretching,
techniques, aerobic exercise, and the history behind the
arts will be included along with traditional arts and
crafts, such as origami, during the camp. The tenets of
courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, indomitable
spirit, right behavior and patience are emphasized during
the camp activities.
